Microdermabrasion usually takes about 45 minutes in our offices. We do not see a reason in utilizing anesthesia as the procedure is fairly simple and pain-free. Some numbing cream may be applied upon request; however, it is not really necessarily, and it just gets administrated for patients overly concerned with possible discomforts. Prior to the procedure, we initiate a cleaning procedure to remove any make up or other extraneous matter. Following the procedure, we do what is called hydro-microdermabrasion. The device we use for these actions moisturizes the new skin under the dead skin cells.
After the procedure, your skin may appear red and there may be some swelling. Our physicians would not let you be uncomfortable for long. We give you a special type of sunscreen that would minimize the swelling and protect your skin against sunlight. It is recommended to avoid exposure to sunlight for a few days following the procedure due to the skin being extra sensitive after such procedures.
We offer microdermabrasion to pregnant women! This procedure has minimal risks for complications therefore, it is safe for pregnant women to come to our offices for microdermabrasion. For pregnant individuals we use especial chemicals for the cleaning process that do not get absorbed by the body.
